Is there a deeper connection between Mamata Banerjee's recent injury and the upcoming elections? The West Bengal Chief Minister has faced physical setbacks during the last three major elections, raising questions and concerns as the country gears up for national polls.
Ahead of the 2021 assembly elections, Banerjee sustained injuries while campaigning in Nandigram, requiring her leg to be plastered. Despite the setback, her party, the All India Trinamool Congress, surprised many with a strong showing in the elections. However, Banerjee herself lost her seat to Shuvendu Adhikari.
During the 2023 Panchayat elections, Banerjee faced another mishap when her helicopter made an emergency landing, resulting in a waist injury. And in September of the same year, she suffered a fresh injury during a visit to Spain and Dubai.
Most recently, on March 14, Banerjee fell at her house, injuring her forehead and nose. Hospital authorities attributed the fall to a push from behind, requiring her to receive stitches.
The incident has prompted well wishes from political leaders across the spectrum, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi. However, some, like former state BJP president Dilip Ghosh, have raised questions about the circumstances of Banerjee's injuries, calling for an investigation.
As the country braces for upcoming elections, Banerjee's physical accidents have become a topic of discussion in both national and state-level politics, adding intrigue to an already tense political atmosphere.
