Madrid, Oct 02 (V7N) – Spain has summoned the Israeli ambassador in response to the blockade of the Global Sumud Flotilla, a Gaza-bound humanitarian mission. Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albérez confirmed the move on Thursday, stating that he had called in the Charge d’Affaires in Madrid. He added that 65 Spanish citizens were traveling on the flotilla.

The UK government has also expressed concern over Israel’s actions against the flotilla, which is attempting to break the naval blockade imposed by the Netanyahu administration.

Despite the threats, passengers of the Sumud flotilla continue their journey toward Gaza. The mission includes more than 500 participants from at least 44 countries, comprising human rights activists, doctors, teachers, and politicians.

Notable participants include Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg, Nelson Mandela’s granddaughter Mandela Mandela, and Bangladeshi photographer Shahidul Alam, all of whom are standing in solidarity with Palestinians amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
