London, Nov 23 (V7N) — At least 90 protesters were arrested in London during a demonstration held in support of the banned organisation Palestine Action, according to the Metropolitan Police. The information was reported by Middle East Monitor on Saturday.

Police said the rally was organised by Defend Our Jury, a group also banned under the UK’s anti-terror laws. Despite the prohibition, protesters gathered at Tavistock Square, waving Palestinian flags and holding placards, many of which read: “I am against genocide, I support Palestine Action.”

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Defend Our Jury stated that police began arresting participants even though they were “peacefully holding posters.” The group expressed concern over the arrests taking place in Tavistock Square — widely known as a ‘peace park’ and home to an anti-war memorial. The organisation demanded that the ban be lifted immediately.

Palestine Action was outlawed in July 2024 under anti-terrorism legislation. Since then, hundreds of people have reportedly been detained across the UK for expressing support for the group or carrying related posters.

Meanwhile, protests continue globally amid the ongoing Israeli offensive in Palestine. Since October 2023, nearly 70,000 people have been killed, more than 170,000 injured, and vast areas of Gaza have been reduced to rubble. According to reports, the Israeli military has conducted almost 500 attacks since the US-brokered ceasefire came into effect on October 10.
