Sikkim, February 6 (V7N)- An earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale shook the Sikkim region of India around midnight, according to the National Center for Seismology and reports from several Indian media outlets, including India TV.
The tremor was felt in the Gyalshing area of Sikkim at around 1:00 am on Thursday (February 5). Following the main quake, two additional aftershocks were reported—one with an epicenter in Gangtok, and the other two in Gyalshing and Mangan. Fortunately, no damage or casualties have been reported so far.
The earthquake was also felt in northern districts of Bangladesh, including Nilphamari, Rajshahi, and Naogaon, causing brief alarm among residents.
Authorities in both India and Bangladesh have advised the public to remain alert for any further aftershocks.
