In a recent development, Israeli forces have reportedly abducted Sabah Abdel Salam Haniya, the sister of Ismail Haniya, the head of the Palestinian independence armed organization Hamas. According to the Tel Aviv-based Times of Israel, Sabah Abdel Salam Haniya is currently being held in a prison in the southern Israeli city of Tel Sheba.

Israeli police confirmed the abduction, stating that the 57-year-old woman, a relative of a top Hamas leader, was arrested in a joint operation with the Shin Bet, Israel's internal security service. She is suspected of having connections with Hamas fighters and is accused of inciting attacks by Hamas militants inside Israel.

This incident comes after Sabah Abdel Salam Haniya's 22-year-old son, Hazim, was killed in an Israeli attack in the Gaza Strip last February. The abduction of Sabah Abdel Salam Haniya adds to the series of actions taken by Israeli forces against Ismail Haniya's family members.

According to reports from Iran-based Perstuday, Israel's occupation forces have killed at least 14 members of Ismail Haniya's family in various airstrikes in the Gaza Strip. Among the casualties was a son of Ismail Haniya, who also lost his life in one of the airstrikes.

The tensions between Israel and Hamas escalated last year when Hamas launched a significant military operation against Israel on October 7. In response, Israel initiated airstrikes and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip. The conflict has resulted in a high number of casualties, with more than 33,000 Palestinians killed, predominantly women and children, and over a million people injured.

The abduction of Sabah Abdel Salam Haniya adds to the ongoing tensions between Israel and Hamas, highlighting the complex and volatile situation in the region.
