Ukraine faced a widespread power outage on Tuesday as Russia intensified attacks targeting the country's power and energy facilities. The entire nation was plunged into darkness, exacerbating the dire situation in Ukraine's power sector.

The state-owned electricity company Ukranego reported the emergency blackout, attributing it to Russian aggression. Ukraine has struggled to meet its domestic electricity needs amidst ongoing attacks from Russian forces, prompting the country to import electricity from neighboring European Union countries.

According to Ukranego's report on Telegram, the power supply was cut off in all regions of Ukraine for a four-hour period starting at 9:00 p.m. local time. The blackout affected the entire nation, highlighting the severity of the situation.

The blackout was attributed to two main factors: direct attacks by Russian forces on Ukraine's electricity installations and increased demand for electricity due to low temperatures. Videos circulating on social media depicted scenes of darkness in cities like Lviv, where buildings were without power, and streetlights remained unlit.

The escalation of attacks on Ukraine's power infrastructure underscores the ongoing humanitarian crisis and the urgent need for international intervention to address the situation.
