The revered Imam and Khatib of Masjid al-Haram, Sheikh Maher Al Muaiqly, has been appointed to deliver the Hajj sermon at Arafat Maidan this year. This announcement was made on Monday by the official Facebook page, Insight the Haramain.

According to the post, the Haramain authorities have designated Sheikh Maher Al Muaiqly to give the sermon at Masjid Namira, following a royal decree from Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz. This decree authorizes Sheikh Maher to lead the Zuhr and Asr prayers and deliver the sermon on the significant day of Arafat.

The appointment marks a notable change from the previous Hajj season when Sheikh Dr. Yusuf bin Muhammad bin Saeed, a member of the Senior Ulama Council of Saudi Arabia, delivered the main sermon with Sheikh Maher Al Muaiqly assisting him.

The Hajj sermon, traditionally delivered in Arabic from the Namirah mosque on the 9th of Zil Hajj, will be translated into 14 languages, including English, French, Malay, Urdu, Persian, Russian, Chinese, Turkish, Hausa, Spanish, Hindi, Tamil, and Swahili. These translations will be available through the official Saudi Arabia website, ensuring pilgrims from around the world can comprehend the important messages.

Sheikh Maher Al Muaiqly is set to lead the prayers and deliver the sermon to millions of pilgrims gathered at Arafat Maidan, highlighting the spiritual significance of the day and the essence of Hajj rituals.

This year's Hajj, one of the largest annual religious gatherings globally, is expected to draw millions of Muslims from around the world to Mecca, continuing a tradition that dates back over a millennium.

The royal decree and subsequent appointment of Sheikh Maher Al Muaiqly underscore the importance of his role in this sacred event, as he conveys messages of faith, unity, and peace to the global Muslim community.
