Following the recent recognition of Palestine by Spain, Ireland, and Norway, French President Emmanuel Macron has announced France's readiness to recognize Palestine as an independent state. This significant statement was reported by Türkiye-based Anadolu Agency.

During a press conference on Tuesday, President Macron reiterated his commitment to a two-state solution as the only viable political resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. "We have always said that the two-state solution is the only political solution to this problem. I am fully prepared to recognize the State of Palestine. I have been saying this since the beginning," Macron stated.

The French president disclosed that he communicated his position to various Middle Eastern foreign ministers last Friday. Macron emphasized the urgency of the situation in Gaza, expressing his shock at the ongoing violence in Rafah and stressing the need for an immediate ceasefire.

This announcement from France comes on the heels of similar recognitions by three other European countries. On the same day, Spain, Ireland, and Norway officially recognized Palestine as an independent state, adding to the growing international support for Palestinian statehood. These countries join 27 EU members, including Sweden, Cyprus, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Romania, and Bulgaria, who have already recognized Palestine.

The momentum for international recognition of Palestine has been building, with 143 countries previously voting in favor of recognizing Palestine as a state at the United Nations. Macron's statement is expected to further influence the international discourse on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the pursuit of peace in the region.

As the situation in Gaza continues to escalate, the global community watches closely, hoping that such diplomatic moves can contribute to a peaceful resolution and the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state.
