Kuantan, (15 June 2024) – Immigration authorities in Kuantan, Pahang state, arrested 43 illegal immigrants from various countries, including 18 Bangladeshis, on Thursday, June 13. The Pahang State Immigration Department disclosed this information in a statement released on Friday, June 14.

The nighttime operation involved 13 officers and was based on intelligence and public information. During the operation, authorities checked the documents of 109 immigrants and detained 43 individuals for violating the terms of the Immigration Act. The detainees include 18 Bangladeshis, 4 Indonesians, 18 from Myanmar, one from India, and two from Pakistan.

The ages of those detained range from 21 to 51 years. The individuals have been remanded for 14 days at the Kemayan Immigration Depot in the state.

The Immigration Department has urged the public in Negeri Pahang to assist by providing information about the whereabouts of illegal immigrants. They also warned that strict legal action will be taken against any individuals or employers who hire or provide protection to illegal immigrants. 

This crackdown highlights Malaysia's ongoing efforts to control illegal immigration and enforce immigration laws strictly.
