Hanoi, June 20, 2024 — After his visit to North Korea, Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Hanoi, Vietnam, in the early hours of Thursday for a two-day visit. This marks Putin's fifth visit to Vietnam.

Upon his arrival, Putin received a red carpet reception at the airport, where he was welcomed by Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and top diplomats of the Communist Party.

During his visit, Putin is scheduled to meet with Vietnam's President Vo Van Thuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and Communist Party chief Nguyen Phu Trong. Discussions are expected to cover trade, regional politics, and other matters of mutual interest.

This visit to Vietnam is Putin's third foreign trip since he began his fifth term in office last May. On Wednesday, Putin made a notable visit to North Korea, where he received a grand welcome that included a guard of honor. It was reported that the two sides reached an agreement on strategic security issues.
