Tehran, 23 June 2024 — Candidates for Iran's upcoming presidential election are actively campaigning across the country, engaging with voters at universities, commercial centers, and factories. With economic reforms, inflation reduction, and foreign policy as their primary focus, the candidates are working hard to win public support. This news comes from Iran International.

Candidates are leveraging mass communication techniques to connect with voters. Public gatherings and discussions are highlighting their proposed policies and plans:

  • Economic Reforms: Addressing the country's economic challenges.
  • Inflation Reduction: Proposing measures to curb the rising inflation.
  • Foreign Policy: Outlining strategies for Iran's international relations.

Among the candidates, Mohammad Bagher Kalibaf, Masoud Pezeshkian, and Syed Jalili are leading in popularity polls. However, Amir Hashemi, Ali Reza Zakani, and Mostafa Pormohammdi are also gaining significant attention and are not far behind in their campaign efforts.

The campaign season follows a tragic helicopter accident on May 19 in Zolfa, near the Azerbaijan border, which claimed the lives of President Ebrahim Raisi, the country's foreign minister, the governor of East Azerbaijan, and several others. Following this incident, Vice President Mohammad Mokhbar, 68, assumed the role of interim president as per Iran's constitution.

The presidential election, set to replace the late President Raisi, will be held on June 28. Candidates have until June 26 to continue their campaigns.

This election is crucial for Iran as it navigates its future amid significant economic and political challenges. The country's next leader will face the daunting task of addressing these issues while ensuring stability and progress.
