Seoul, July 1, 2024 — South Korea's military reported that North Korea launched two ballistic missiles on Monday, escalating tensions between the neighboring countries. The information was revealed in a report by Qatar-based media Al Jazeera.

The missile launches occurred just one day after the United States, South Korea, and Japan pledged an "aggressive and overwhelming" response to new military exercises.

According to South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff, the missiles were fired 10 minutes apart from the southeastern city of Jungyon in North Korea. The first missile had a range of 600 kilometers, while the second had a range of 120 kilometers. The exact landing locations of the missiles were not disclosed.

This development marks another chapter in the ongoing military tensions on the Korean Peninsula, prompting concerns over regional security and stability.
