The initiative, dubbed the "Clear and Bright" campaign by the Cyberspace Administration of China, seeks to purge content deemed harmful to children and promote a safer digital environment.

Under the stringent regulations of the ruling Communist Party, the Chinese internet is closely monitored for content considered vulgar, ostentatious, or politically disruptive. This latest campaign extends these controls to target a wide range of platforms, including short-video and livestreaming services, social media sites, online shopping platforms, app stores, and smart devices tailored for children.
