Davao, Aug 09 (V7N) - In a powerful display of global solidarity, the International Women’s Peace Group, or IWPG, unveiled its third Peace Monument at Green Paradise Park in Kapalong City, Davao del Norte, Philippines, on August 1. This significant event drew 250 attendees, including Kapalong City Mayor Maria Theresa Timbol and IWPG Secretary General Na Hyung Jun.

The monument commemorates the Mindanao Peace Treaty, a pivotal agreement mediated by the Heavenly Culture World Peace Restoration of Light, or HWPL, on January 24, 2014. This treaty marked a historic step toward peace in the region. The first Peace Monument was established in Davao de Oro, followed by the second in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

The latest addition in Kapalong symbolizes hope and unity. Mayor Timbol, who had pledged to support the IWPG's mission during the 2023 International Women’s Peace Conference, emphasized the monument's role in promoting peace. “The IWPG Peace Monument is a reminder to everyone, especially women in Kapalong, that peace is achievable. By starting with peace within ourselves, we can extend it to our families and communities. Let’s work together for peace,” she declared.

Green Paradise, once marred by crime and conflict, now stands as a beacon of peace thanks to the IWPG’s efforts. The monument's installation aims to inspire a culture of peace that will resonate globally.

Following the unveiling, the IWPG delegation engaged in a series of peace-oriented activities, including Peace Lecturer Training Education (PLTE) orientation sessions and a media interview with Radio Aliw. These efforts seek to amplify the IWPG’s message and encourage widespread adoption of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) as international law.

Secretary General Na Hyung Jun expressed hope that the new monument would become a landmark of reconciliation, urging all visitors and Filipino women to embrace their value and champion peace.
