The Gambian military has arrested former brigadier general Bora Colley, who is alleged to have been a member of the "Junglers," a death squad under former dictator Yahya Jammeh. Colley reportedly surrendered voluntarily to the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) Military Police at Yundum Barracks near the capital Banjul on August 9, 2024, following surveillance operations around his residence.

The Junglers, a paramilitary unit associated with Jammeh's regime, have been accused of committing extrajudicial killings and torture. Colley is currently in detention and is cooperating with the Military Police during their investigation.

In 2022, the Gambian government supported the recommendations of a commission investigating atrocities committed during Jammeh's rule. The commission recommended prosecuting 70 individuals, including Jammeh himself. Jammeh, who ruled The Gambia for 22 years with numerous human rights violations, lost the presidential election in December 2016 to Adama Barrow and fled to Equatorial Guinea in January 2017.
