President Joe Biden announced a new round of military aid for Ukraine valued at $125 million following a conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday. This aid package comes ahead of Ukraine's Independence Day and is part of ongoing efforts to support Ukraine against Russia's invasion. The package includes air defense missiles, counter-drone equipment, anti-armor missiles, and ammunition for frontline soldiers, aimed at bolstering Ukraine's defenses, particularly its critical infrastructure.

Zelensky expressed gratitude for the aid, emphasizing the urgent need for additional air defense systems to protect Ukrainian cities and infrastructure.

This latest military aid is part of a broader U.S. commitment to Ukraine, which has seen over $55 billion in security assistance provided since Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022.

In addition to the military support, the U.S. imposed new sanctions on nearly 400 individuals and entities, targeting those who enable Russia's war efforts and evade existing sanctions. These measures focus on Russia's defense and technology sectors and include sanctions against entities in third countries like China. The U.S. Commerce Department also announced further restrictions on exports to Russia and Belarus, aimed at limiting their ability to sustain military operations.
