Wilmington, Sep 22 (V7N)-  US President Joe Biden has labelled China's actions in the South China Sea and the Taiwan Strait as "aggressive," during a Quad alliance meeting. The Quad, consisting of the United States, Australia, India, and Japan, expressed deep concerns over China’s increasing assertiveness in the region. This was reported by CNN following the meeting.

In a joint statement, the leaders of the Quad voiced their concerns, stating, "We are deeply concerned about the situation in the East and South China Seas," signalling a strong stance against China's maritime activities without explicitly naming the country.

The Quad summit was held in Biden’s hometown of Wilmington, Delaware, and saw the participation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi alongside other leaders. Modi emphasized the significance of the Quad, noting its role in addressing global tensions, though he avoided directly mentioning China.

In addition to the situation in the South China Sea, the leaders discussed several global issues, including the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza, as well as condemning North Korea’s recent ballistic missile tests. The meeting underscored the Quad's growing strategic importance in the Indo-Pacific region and its focus on maintaining stability and security.
