Dhaka, Dec 20 (V7N) — A fire erupted at a restaurant in Uttara Sector 12, trapping several people inside the building. Emergency services promptly responded, rescuing many residents from the upper floors.

The fire was reported at 10:38 am on Friday, and the first fire service unit reached the scene within six minutes. Subsequently, 12 fire service units from Uttara, Tongi, Baridhara, Kurmitola, and Siddiq Bazar were deployed to combat the blaze.

According to Fire Service Media Cell Officer Anwarul Islam Dolan, thick smoke engulfed the building, making rescue and firefighting operations challenging. Firefighters are breaking windows on various floors to ventilate the building and control the fire.

Local sources revealed that the fire originated in the gas line of the Loveline restaurant on the ground floor. The building houses residential units above, and many residents were initially trapped due to the smoke.

Efforts are ongoing to fully extinguish the fire and ensure the safety of all occupants. Further updates are awaited as firefighters continue their work.
