Dhaka, Jan 08, (V7N) – Six people, including a college student, lost their lives and four others were injured in separate road accidents across Naogaon, Gazipur, and Munshiganj districts on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Fardin Hossain and Rezuan Islam from Mohadevpur upazila in Naogaon, Ayon Roy, Sudeb Das, and Karim Mia from Kaliakoir upazila in Gazipur, and Enamul Haque, a 20-year-old intermediate student from Sirajdikhan upazila in Munshiganj.
Accident in Naogaon
According to Hashmat Ali, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mohadevpur Police Station, Fardin and Rezuan were returning to Mohadevpur from Naogaon Sadar on a motorcycle around 10 a.m. The motorcycle collided with a truck parked by the roadside, causing Fardin to die instantly. Rezuan was taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Accident in Gazipur
In Gazipur, Ayon Roy, Sudeb Das, and Karim Mia died, and one other was injured when a truck collided with an auto-rickshaw at Kanchanpur in Kaliakoir upazila around 4 p.m. Police said the brick-laden truck hit the auto-rickshaw, killing one person on the spot and leaving three others injured. Two of the injured were declared dead at Tangail Mirzapur Kumudini Hospital. Another injured, Ripon Mia, was referred to Fazilatunnesa Hospital for better treatment.
Accident in Munshiganj
In a separate incident in Munshiganj, a motorbike collided with a battery-run auto-rickshaw on Sreenagar-Muktarpur road in the Mostafaganj area under Sirajdikhan upazila around 5 p.m. The motorbike, traveling towards Munshiganj, hit the auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction, causing the auto-rickshaw to fall into a roadside canal. Enamul Haque, the 20-year-old student, died at the scene. The injured were taken to Upazila Health Complex, and the others were referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for further treatment.
These tragic accidents have raised concerns about road safety in the country, highlighting the need for better regulation and awareness to prevent such incidents in the future.
