Dhaka, Jan 17 (V7N)— A massive fire erupted at a tannery godown in Hazaribagh Bazaar, Dhaka, prompting a swift response from the fire service. Seven units of firefighters are currently working to control the blaze, which broke out around 2 PM on Friday.
The fire originated in the Phoenix Leather godown located on the fourth floor of a building in the busy Hazaribagh Bazaar area. Lima Khanam, duty officer at the Fire Service Headquarters, confirmed the incident to the media.
“Our teams are working on-site to bring the fire under control,” she stated. The cause of the fire and any potential casualties remain unknown at this stage.
Authorities have urged people to avoid the area as firefighting operations continue. More details are expected to emerge as the situation develops.
