Dhaka, Mar 03 (V7N) – A fire broke out at a residential hotel in Shahjadpur, Dhaka, killing four people on Monday afternoon.

According to Rashed Bin Khalid, duty officer at the Fire Service Control Room, the fire erupted at Hotel Saudia in the Bhatara area at 12:17 PM. Upon receiving the report, four units of the Fire Service and Civil Defence rushed to the spot and managed to bring the fire under control by 1:04 PM.

The fire originated on the second floor of the six-story hotel. After the flames were extinguished, firefighters recovered the bodies of four men.

Jasim, an official on the scene, stated that three of the victims were found at the bottom of the stairs, while one body was recovered from inside a bathroom. Shockingly, the stairway door was locked, which may have trapped the victims inside.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire and the circumstances surrounding the locked stairway. The identities of the deceased have not yet been confirmed.
