Brahmanbaria, Apr 02 (V7N) – Two youths lost their lives and two others were injured after getting entangled in a wire while recording a video on their mobile phones on the roof of a moving train in Brahmanbaria.

The tragic accident occurred around 11:30 AM on Wednesday in the Gangasagar Bridge area of Mogra Union, Ashuganj Upazila.

The deceased have been identified as Abdul Qayyum, son of Karim Mia from Debidwar, Comilla, and Tarek, a resident of Kasba Upazila, Brahmanbaria. The identities of the two injured have yet to be confirmed.

According to local eyewitnesses, the four young men were traveling on the roof of the Sylhet-bound Paharika Express, which had departed from Chittagong. While recording a video on their phones, they collided with an overhead wire on the Gangasagar Bridge and fell from the train.

Abdul Qayyum died on the spot, while Tarek succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital. The remaining two were rushed to a local medical facility for treatment.

Confirming the incident, Akhaura Railway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Jasim Uddin Khandaker stated that the accident occurred due to reckless behavior while traveling on the train roof.

"The families of the deceased have been informed, and legal procedures are underway," he added.

This tragic incident serves as a stark warning about the dangers of riding on train roofs, a practice that remains a serious safety concern in Bangladesh.
