Madhabpur, Sept 28 (V7N) – Three motorcyclists were killed in separate road accidents involving trucks on the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway in Madhabpur, Habiganj, on Saturday. The incidents occurred in Narayanpur and Ratanpur areas of the upazila.
The first accident took place around 8:00 a.m. in Narayanpur when Shashin Das Panika, 32, a factory worker, was struck by a truck while on his way to work. He died at the scene.
Later in the evening, around 8:30 p.m., a high-speed truck collided with a motorcycle in Ratanpur, killing 15-year-old Ashraful Islam Kashemi, a resident of Dormondol village in Nasirnagar, Brahmanbaria. Another 17-year-old, Imon Mia, son of Giasuddin from the same village, was critically injured and later declared dead by doctors after being rushed to Madhabpur Upazila Health Complex by fire service personnel.
Shayestaganj Highway Police Officer-in-Charge Subho Ranjan Chakma said police recovered the bodies and sent them to Habiganj Sadar Hospital morgue.
The accidents have cast a shadow of grief over the families of the deceased and the local community. Authorities urge motorists to exercise caution on the busy highway, highlighting ongoing concerns about road safety in the region.
