The fire at Salam Jute Mill in Rupsa, Khulna has come under partial control. After more than 6 hours of efforts, 16 units comprising of fire service and navy fire unit brought the fire under partial control around 12 pm.

MMA Salam, the owner of the company, said that there were 750 tons of products in three warehouses. The estimated value of which is 1 crore 50 lakh taka. Raw jute was one thousand 300 tons; The estimated value of which is about 20 crore rupees. In all, there has been a loss of around 100 crore rupees.
The jute mill workers said that the jute mill suddenly caught fire in the afternoon. On receiving the information, the members of the fire service started working to control the fire. They were joined by members of the Navy. It is initially believed that the fire may have started from an electrical short circuit.
