Dhaka, Sep 2 (V7N) – Sayed Mostak Ahmed, a senior journalist and Head of News at Voice7 News, was brutally attacked near the BNP central office in Dhaka on Monday. The assault was allegedly carried out by a group of BNP activists, linked to Aminul Haque, the party’s Dhaka south uni member secretary.

Witnesses said the attackers verbally abused Mostak, calling him an "anti-BNP journalist," before physically assaulting him. The attack left him with injuries to his hand, head, and eye. He was later admitted to a hospital in Dhaka for treatment.

The physical assault ended only after senior BNP leaders intervened and stopped the attackers. However, Mostak received a chilling warning as he left the scene. "You are lucky that our leaders rescued you, but if we find you in a suitable place in Dhaka, we will not let you go unless Mr. Aminul forgives you," one of the attackers reportedly said.

This violent incident has sparked concerns over the safety of journalists in Bangladesh, particularly those perceived as critical of powerful political figures. Ahmed’s ordeal underscores the mounting risks faced by media professionals navigating the nation’s politically polarized climate.
