Rajshahi, Mar 01 (V7N) - Mango and litchi orchards in Tanore, Rajshahi are in full bloom, painting the region in golden hues as farmers work tirelessly to nurture their trees. With high hopes for a bumper harvest, orchard owners are investing time and resources to ensure the delicate buds develop into healthy fruits.

The sight of golden mango and litchi buds spreading their fragrance across fields and neighborhoods is mesmerizing. Farmers have observed a greater number of buds this year compared to last, crediting favorable weather conditions for the improvement.

However, timely rainfall is crucial. Farmers worry that without rain, many buds could prematurely fall, leading them to spray vitamins and manually irrigate trees.

While the current conditions indicate a potentially high yield, some orchard owners fear weather changes could impact production. Despite challenges in maintaining last year’s crop, they are taking proactive measures, including:

Spraying vitamins to strengthen buds.

Applying fertilizers at the base of trees.

Irrigating trees with water ribbons to ensure moisture retention.

Upazila Agriculture Officer Saifullah Ahmed stated, "The weather has been favorable, and almost all mango and litchi trees are filled with buds. If conditions remain stable, the yield could be excellent this year."

Farmers remain hopeful that with continued care and favorable weather, this season could bring record mango and litchi harvests, boosting local agriculture and the economy.
