Dhaka, Sep 28 (V7N): More than 1,581 people have been killed, and over 31,000 injured during the recent student-led mass movement across the country.

The data was disclosed at a press conference organized by the Sub-Committee on Health, the National Citizens Committee, and other relevant groups at Dhaka University's Teacher-Student Centre auditorium on Saturday afternoon. However, the committee members clarified that this is not the final report, as many injuries have been reported multiple times, and others are yet to be added.

Tariq Reza, the member secretary of the sub-committee on health, stated, "Our preliminary list has been forwarded to the committee led by the Deputy Commissioners for verification. After thorough scrutiny, the committee will submit the final list to the Ministry of Health."

The report was compiled with contributions from the As-Sunnah Foundation, Human Rights Support Society, Red July, and other organizations, as well as local individuals who provided information, Reza added.

The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement intensified its protests, demanding reforms to the quota system. By mid-July, the movement had escalated into violent clashes across Bangladesh.

The uprising ultimately resulted in the resignation of Sheikh Hasina, who fled the country on August 5. Three days later, an interim government led by Dr. Muhammad Yunus assumed power.
