Dhaka, July 1 (V7N) — The Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Chatra Dal (JCD) solemnly commemorated the martyrs of the historic July-August people’s uprising by organizing a national anthem recital and candlelight vigil at the Central Shaheed Minar shortly after midnight on Monday. The event, held under the theme “Illuminating Memories with Light,” was attended by leaders and activists from various units of the organization.

The gathering marked the anniversary of the student and public movement’s victory and paid tribute to those who sacrificed their lives during the mass uprising. At the same time, the JCD formally inaugurated a 36-day long program aimed at restoring democracy in the country.

The candlelight vigil was graced by the presence of prominent leaders including Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Joint Secretary General of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Amanullah Aman, Political Advisor to the Chairperson, former JCD President Asifuzzaman Ripon, current JCD Central President Rakibul Islam Rakib, General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir, and other senior party officials.

The event highlighted the continuing relevance of the July-August uprising as a symbol of courage and resistance, reinforcing the party’s commitment to democratic values and honoring the legacy of those who laid down their lives for the nation’s future.
