Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) is on high alert in the Naf River to prevent Rohingyas from entering through the Bangladesh border due to increased shelling and clashes in Myanmar's Rakhine state. For this purpose, on Monday morning, BGB increased the patrolling of Jaliya Island by speed boat at Damdamiya of Teknaf on Naf river border.
The Teknaf Battalion (BGB-2) captain said that the infiltration of Rohingya is being prevented. Colonel Md. Mohiuddin Ahmed said, "Additional BGB has been deployed to prevent Rohingya citizens of Myanmar from crossing the Naf River and any other people from crossing the Teknaf border. BGB's three speed boats are continuing to patrol the Naf Nad border of Dumdamiya since morning.
Lt Colonel Mohiuddin Ahmed said, people are trying to infiltrate through different borders but we are not allowing anyone to enter again. 137 people have been prevented till date. The border was quieter than other days.
The BGP member took refuge in Bangladesh amid ongoing fierce fighting and shelling by the Arakan Army with government forces in Rohingya-populated Myanmar's Rakhine state. No final decision has yet been taken on their return.
