Dhaka, Oct 05 (V7N): Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former president AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury, highlighting his pivotal role in Bangladesh's democratic transition during the 1990s.

In his condolence message, Prof Yunus described Chowdhury as a distinguished public servant and a highly respected politician. "I pray for the departed soul. May Allah grant him a place in Jannatul Firdaus," he said.

Prof Yunus also reflected on Chowdhury’s illustrious career as both a physician and a public figure. He noted that Chowdhury's widely watched "Apnar Doctor" program on BTV brought essential health information to millions of viewers, reflecting his dedication to public service.

"When he entered politics, he carried the same level of commitment," said Prof Yunus, adding that Chowdhury's contributions as a five-time member of parliament were instrumental in the country's political transformation during the 1990s. His speeches were lauded by politicians from various parties.

The chief adviser expressed his condolences to Chowdhury's family and urged the public to follow his example, dedicating themselves to the welfare of the nation and democracy.

Badruddoza Chowdhury's Passing

Former president and veteran politician AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury passed away early Saturday at the age of 94. He had been admitted to Uttara Women’s Medical College Hospital with a lung infection and breathed his last around 3:15am, his daughter Dr. Shayla Chowdhury confirmed.

Chowdhury is survived by his wife, one son, two daughters, and numerous relatives and well-wishers. His burial will take place at his family graveyard in Majidpur Dayhata, Munshiganj, on Sunday, according to his press secretary Jahangir Alam.

The first of his four namaz-e-janazas was held at Uttara Women's Medical College at 8am on Saturday. The second will be at Baitul Atik Jame Mosque in Baridhara after Zohr prayers, followed by the third at Munshiganj Stadium on Sunday morning, and the final at his village home in Majidpur Dayhata after Zohr prayers.
