Lalmonirhat, Oct 07 (V7N) — Taapsee Tabassum Urmi, the Assistant Commissioner of the Lalmonirhat District Administration and Executive Magistrate, has been suspended for making controversial comments on Facebook about Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus. This decision follows her earlier placement as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) by the Ministry of Public Administration.

A source from the ministry confirmed the suspension on Monday. On Sunday evening, a notification was issued by Nilufa Yasmin, Senior Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, announcing Taapsee's transfer to the ministry in light of her comments.

The controversy began when Taapsee posted on Facebook on Saturday, where she indirectly referenced Muhammad Yunus as the "chief adviser of the constitutionally baseless interim government," and remarked that a "reset button" had been pushed to erase the past, alluding to political changes in the country. The post, seen as inflammatory and critical of Yunus, led to her swift removal from field duties.

Her comments have sparked debate, with the administration acting quickly to address the situation. The suspension reflects the government’s firm stance on maintaining decorum among public officials, especially when expressing views on social media.
