Dhaka, March 29 (V7N) — The ongoing first session of the 13th National Assembly resumed on Monday afternoon following a two-week adjournment. The session reconvened at 3:00 PM.

At the outset, Deputy Speaker Barrister Kaiser Kamal, Member of Parliament for Netrokona-1, delivered a welcome address. In the absence of the Speaker, he presided over the proceedings as Acting Speaker.

The session began on a solemn note, with special prayers offered for the departed souls of Dilara Hafiz, wife of the Speaker and Member of Parliament for Bhola-3, Major (Retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram, and Rahima Begum, mother of Jessore-6 MP Moktar Ali.

Following the prayers, Members of Parliament raised starred and supplementary questions, which were responded to by the ministers and state ministers present in the House.

The first session of the 13th National Assembly originally commenced on March 12. After two working days, proceedings were adjourned on March 15 until March 29. From the day’s sitting, discussions resumed on the motion of thanks on the President’s address.

According to parliamentary sources, the current session is scheduled to continue until April 30.
