Gazipur, Oct 08 (V7N) — Lt. General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, the Interior and Agriculture Adviser, assured the public of a peaceful and secure Durga Puja celebration this year, during a visit to the Agricultural Research Institute in Gazipur on Tuesday morning.

In response to questions from journalists, the adviser stated, "This year's puja will be very good. There will be no problems. We have deployed additional teams of RAB, BGB, and the army alongside police and Ansar members to ensure security." He also called for public cooperation in making the event successful.

Addressing concerns about market syndicates and rising prices, Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said efforts are being made to bring the market to a "tolerable level" soon. He added, "If there is a syndicate, the Ministry of Commerce will break it up."

On the issue of misinformation spreading via social media, he emphasized the responsibility of journalists and citizens to address these rumours. He highlighted that his area was free of significant issues, and urged media personnel to report on any problems in Gazipur to promote awareness and resolution.

Speaking about agriculture, the adviser acknowledged the growing population and the need for more efficient use of the country’s limited cultivable land. He noted, "Agriculture is the largest contributor to the nation, and this institute is doing remarkable work to enhance it." He also mentioned the support provided to flood-affected farmers, including seeds, saplings, and financial aid.

The adviser toured an exhibition showcasing agricultural technology, machinery, and products developed by the Agricultural Research Institute. Later, he held an exchange meeting with officials to discuss advancements and future goals.

Accompanying the adviser during the visit were Agriculture Secretary Dr. Md. Emdad Ullah Mia, Bari DG Dr. Abdullah Yusuf Akand, Deputy Commissioner Nafisa Arifin, and Superintendent of Police Abul Kalam Azad.
