Dhaka, Oct 13 (V7N) — The grand Durga Puja festival, one of the most significant religious events for Hindus, will conclude on Sunday with the traditional Bijoya Dashami procession and immersion of idols. To ensure the smooth and festive completion of the celebrations, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has implemented special security measures.

The DMP announced these arrangements in a press release from its media department on Saturday.

The Bijoya Dashami procession will follow a designated route starting from the Dhakeswari National Temple and pass through key locations, including Palashi Mor, Jagannath Hall, Central Shaheed Minar, Doel Chatwar, and the High Court area. The procession will continue along Government Employees Hospital, Police Headquarters, Nagar Bhavan, Golap Shah Mazar, Bangabandhu Square, and Gulistan, ultimately concluding at Wiseghat via Nawabpur Road and several prominent crossings like Shankharibazar and Sadarghat Terminal.

To maintain order, the DMP will deploy traffic police along the route in addition to regular security personnel. Special control rooms have been established at Dhakeswari National Temple, Palashi Mor, and Bahadur Shah Park. Additionally, watchtowers have been installed at Palashi Mor, Roy Saheb Bazar, and Wiseghat for surveillance.

For enhanced safety, specialised units including a dog squad, bomb disposal team, crime scene investigators, and a SWAT team will remain on alert throughout the event.

The DMP has urged participants and organisers to adhere strictly to the scheduled timings and routes to ensure the procession flows smoothly.

The Bijoya Dashami procession symbolises the farewell to Goddess Durga, marking the end of the joyous Durga Puja celebrations, and is expected to draw large crowds as it winds through the streets of Dhaka.
