The 3Zero Club is designed to empower youth from marginalized communities in Rome, providing a platform for developing innovative solutions and fostering sustainability.
In a message to Cardinal Baldo Reina, the vicar general of Rome, Prof Yunus expressed his gratitude for the initiative. "I am deeply honored by this gesture and extend my heartfelt congratulations to Cardinal Reina on this occasion," he said, as per a statement from his press wing.
Vision of the 3Zero Club
Prof Yunus outlined the club’s mission to achieve three critical goals: zero poverty, zero unemployment, and zero net carbon emissions. He described the initiative as a step towards building a compassionate and equitable civilization.
"This civilization is one where no one is left behind, and every individual is the protagonist of their destiny, united as one human family," Prof Yunus stated, echoing the teachings of Pope Francis in his encyclical Fratelli tutti.
Referring to Pope Francis’s words, he added, "Let us dream as one human family, as fellow travelers sharing the same flesh and earth, our common home."
Empowering Youth for Change
Prof Yunus emphasized the importance of encouraging young people to envision and implement projects that create meaningful societal change. "By nurturing creativity and entrepreneurial spirit, we empower young leaders to shape a more just and harmonious society," he said.
Prof Yunus also praised Pope Francis's unwavering dedication to social justice and invited others to join this journey of transformation. "Let us inspire the next generation to build a civilization that respects human dignity and protects our planet," he urged.
Global Reach of 3Zero Clubs
Currently, there are over 4,600 Three Zero Clubs worldwide, many established at universities, all driven by Prof Yunus's vision of a new, sustainable civilization.
