Dhaka, Nov 20 (V7N)- Efforts are underway to provide a unified institutional framework for the seven colleges affiliated with Dhaka University (DU). Education Advisor Wahiduddin Mahmud announced this initiative during a visit to Dhaka College on Wednesday morning.

The seven affiliated colleges, brought under Dhaka University's administration by a government decision, have faced persistent challenges. Wahiduddin Mahmud acknowledged that the decision to affiliate the colleges was "ill-advised," citing the hardships experienced by students due to administrative and academic complications.

The Education Advisor revealed that a committee has been formed to explore the possibility of granting the colleges an independent institutional identity. During his visit, he examined the structural and operational aspects necessary for transforming the colleges into a Central University or a similar integrated institution.

- Structural Evaluation: The committee will assess the feasibility of consolidating the colleges under a single, autonomous structure.
- Student Involvement: Students will have the opportunity to propose a name for the prospective independent institution.
- Consultations: Discussions are ongoing to determine the best approach to streamline administrative and academic processes.

Wahiduddin Mahmud emphasized the government’s commitment to resolving the issues faced by students and creating a more cohesive academic framework. The initiative aims to address administrative inefficiencies and improve the educational experience for over 150,000 students currently enrolled in the seven colleges.

Further updates are expected as the committee progresses with its recommendations.
