Significance of Armed Forces Day

Armed Forces Day marks the establishment of the Bangladesh Armed Forces — the Army, Navy, and Air Force — on this day during the 1971 Liberation War. On November 21, 1971, these forces launched coordinated operations against the Pakistani occupation forces, playing a pivotal role in the nation’s victory.

Since independence, this day has been observed annually to honor the bravery and sacrifices of the Armed Forces, with various programs held across the country.

The event serves as a reminder of the unity and resilience of Bangladesh’s Armed Forces during the nation’s struggle for independence.
