Dhaka, Dec 01 (V7N) — Chief of Army Staff General Waqar-uz-Zaman has reiterated the army's commitment to standing by the nation during times of crisis. Speaking at the felicitation and peacetime medal ceremony at the Army Multipurpose Complex in Dhaka Cantonment, he expressed optimism that collective efforts could help the country overcome its challenges.

The event was held to honour the contributions of freedom fighters and recognise soldiers for their exceptional service. Reflecting on the sacrifices of the freedom fighters, General Waqar-uz-Zaman stated, “This position today is because of the freedom fighters.” He further assured that the army is actively working to improve law and order and ensure peace across the country.

During the ceremony, the Army Chief awarded 28 soldiers for their exemplary peacetime contributions during the fiscal year 2023-2024. The awards included five Army Medals, five Distinguished Service Medals, and 18 Distinguished Service Awards.

In addition to the formal recognition, the Army Chief also exchanged greetings with the honoured freedom fighters and their families, acknowledging their sacrifices and enduring legacy.

This event highlighted the army's ongoing efforts to uphold national stability and honour those who have contributed significantly to the country's progress and security.
