DHAKA, Dec 02, (V7N) - Dhaka University (DU) marked the beginning of the month of victory with a vibrant procession on Sunday, led by Vice-Chancellor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan. The procession, which started from Aparajeo Bangla and ended at Smriti Chironton Square, included faculty, staff, students, and alumni, celebrating the nation's history and the spirit of unity. Before the procession, Dr. Khan paid tribute to the Liberation War martyrs and highlighted the importance of the July Uprising, noting the significant role played by the students in shaping the country's future.

Later in the day, Dr. Khan emphasized the urgency of state reform, while stressing the need to support the families of martyrs and those injured in the July-August uprising. He praised the "quick success" of the movement, which was driven by the collective efforts of the people, particularly the youth. The memorial discussion held at Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur also focused on the need for justice for the victims of the uprising and for addressing the societal inequalities that have persisted over the past 15 years.

At the event, Dr. Abdullah-al-Mamun, a DU teacher and political analyst, urged students to be wary of the ongoing conspiracies and called for immediate attention to the needs of the families affected by the July Revolution. In response to these calls, BRUR Vice-Chancellor Professor Md Showkat Ali announced the creation of a Martyrs' Memorial Corner at BRUR in honor of the sacrifices made during the uprising. The day was capped off with a cultural program and the planting of a sapling by the DU VC to commemorate the occasion.
