Dhaka, Dec 08 (V7N) — The Government of Bangladesh has simplified the visa process for Pakistani citizens and their descendants by cancelling a 2019 directive that required additional clearance for travel.

The Ministry of Home Affairs issued a notification on Monday, revoking the previous memorandum which mandated a no-objection letter from the ministry for Pakistani citizens to obtain a visa.

According to the new directive, Bangladesh embassies and missions abroad will now handle visa applications directly, streamlining the process for Pakistani citizens or those of Pakistani origin.

The notification states, "The memorandum issued by the Department of Security Services on February 11, 2019, to facilitate visas for Pakistani citizens has been cancelled by order of the Ministry of Home Affairs. As a result, visa applications will now be processed directly by Bangladesh embassies or missions."

This development is expected to ease travel arrangements between the two countries and strengthen people-to-people connectivity.
