Dhaka, Dec 14 (V7N)- Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus paid solemn tribute to the martyred intellectuals on Saturday morning, honoring the nation's brightest minds who were tragically slain during the final stages of the Liberation War.

Dr. Yunus laid a wreath at the Martyred Intellectuals Memorial in Mirpur at 7:15 am. Standing in silence, he paid deep respect to these eminent individuals whose sacrifices shaped the foundation of Bangladesh. A ceremonial state salute was rendered by a smart contingent of the Bangladesh Armed Forces, accompanied by a mournful bugle tune, marking the solemnity of the occasion.

Following the tribute, the Chief Advisor exchanged greetings with members of the Advisory Board, senior civilian and military officials, war-wounded freedom fighters, and other distinguished guests.

Reflecting on the tragedy, it was noted that the intellectuals were targeted during the Liberation War in an effort to cripple the newly emerging nation. Their loss remains a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made for the independence of Bangladesh.

The ceremony highlighted the nation’s collective memory of gratitude and reverence for the martyred intellectuals who laid the groundwork for a sovereign Bangladesh.
