Cairo, Dec 19 (V7N) — Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a bilateral meeting with Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Chief Advisor to Bangladesh's interim government, on the sidelines of the D-8 Summit in Cairo, Egypt.

During the meeting, both leaders discussed strengthening bilateral relations and fostering cooperation between their nations, according to a statement from the Chief Advisor's press wing.

Dr. Yunus arrived in Cairo on Wednesday morning for the two-day summit, which focuses on promoting economic collaboration among its member states. He was welcomed at Cairo International Airport by Egypt's Minister of Public Business Sector, Mohamed Shimi, with whom he also held a brief discussion.

The D-8, formally known as the Organization for Economic Cooperation, was established in 1997 to enhance development cooperation among its members. The organization includes Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Turkey, representing approximately 14% of the global population.

The summit continues to serve as a platform for dialogue and collaboration among developing nations, with leaders addressing pressing economic and developmental challenges.
