Dhaka, Dec 28 (V7N)— The government has announced plans to review the accreditation cards of journalists entering the Secretariat, following security concerns raised after a recent fire incident. The decision was communicated by the Chief Advisor's press wing on Saturday.

In a statement, the press wing explained that entry to the Secretariat, designated as a Key Point Installation (KPI) and a critical state facility, has been temporarily restricted for holders of current accreditation cards and private passes. The restrictions aim to ensure heightened security in the administrative hub.

The government plans to review the existing accreditation system and will soon invite applications from local and international media outlets through the Directorate of Information (DII) for the issuance of new accreditation cards.

In the interim, journalists will be provided with temporary access cards for specific events from the relevant ministries.

The government apologised for the inconvenience caused by this temporary measure and sought the cooperation of journalists during this transitional period.
