Dhaka, Jan 16 (V7N)- Interim Government Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus emphasised the need for unanimity in issuing the proposed July Declaration to instil courage among the nation and ensure its effectiveness. Speaking at an all-party meeting at the Foreign Service Academy on Thursday, Dr. Yunus warned that a divided approach would undermine the declaration's purpose.
“If the July Declaration is issued unanimously, it will inspire courage and create a shockwave of unity across the nation. Otherwise, there is no need to issue it,” Dr. Yunus said during his opening remarks to political leaders and stakeholders.
Reflecting on the importance of collective action, he added, “When we work alone, we feel weak. Meeting all of you gives us strength. We were born in unity, and that unity remains our greatest strength.”
The Chief Advisor revealed that the idea for the declaration emerged from student leaders, who urged for a united stance. “Initially, the students proposed this. I told them that for this to succeed, we need to recreate the spirit of August 5, which requires everyone’s involvement. Without that unity, August 5 will be disrespected,” he explained.
Dr. Yunus expressed optimism about the declaration’s potential impact, stating, “If we can present a unified declaration, it will benefit the country and carry significant international importance. Through this, we aim to send a strong message of unity to our citizens and the global community.”
The meeting brought together political parties and stakeholders to discuss strategies for drafting and issuing the declaration, with the aim of fostering national solidarity during a critical period.
