Dhaka, Jan 21 (V7N) — Principal Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has departed Dhaka to attend the prestigious World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland. He left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at approximately 1 am on Monday.

Dr. Yunus will lead the Bangladesh delegation at the conference, where he is scheduled to engage in high-level meetings with global leaders, including German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Finnish President Alexander Stubbs, Thai Prime Minister Phatthana Shinawatra, Belgian King Philippe, and Dubai Ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Additionally, he will meet top executives from institutions such as the European Central Bank, Meta, and Amnesty International.

At a press conference on Sunday evening at the Foreign Service Academy, Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder stated that the delegation would showcase Bangladesh's progress in creating a business-friendly environment to attract foreign investors. Dr. Yunus will also address regional and global issues and participate in dialogues with business leaders and CEOs to highlight Bangladesh’s investment opportunities.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that Dr. Yunus will be accompanied by Lutfe Siddiqui, Special Envoy for International Affairs, and Lamia Morshed, Principal Coordinator for SDGs.

The 2025 WEF Annual Meeting, themed "Collaboration for the Intelligent Age," will focus on geopolitical stability, inclusive growth, and energy transitions. The event is set to host over 3,000 leaders from 130 countries, including 60 heads of state or government.

Dr. Yunus is expected to return to Bangladesh on January 25, following the conclusion of the forum.
