Dhaka, Jan 26 (V7N)— The government is interpreting BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir's recent statement as a warning, according to Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Advisor to the Ministry of Environment, Forests, Climate Change, and Water Resources. She dismissed any possibility of a political scenario akin to the 1/11 crisis.
Speaking at an inaugural workshop at Pani Bhaban on Green Road in the capital on Sunday afternoon, Rizwana Hasan said, "There is no situation that could lead to a 1/11. The electoral timeline set by the Chief Advisor remains fixed, spanning from June 2025 to 2026."
Addressing concerns about the involvement of student representatives in government, she reiterated that if a student-led party is formed, its representatives will not participate in government positions, as clarified multiple times.
When asked about the Awami League's participation in the upcoming elections, Rizwana Hasan stated, "The government has made it clear that the decision for any party to participate or return to the political arena lies solely with that party. The government will not outline or disclose the process for this."
The remarks highlight the government's stance amidst growing political tension and discussions surrounding the upcoming national elections.
