MANIKGANJ, Feb 1, (V7N) – Ferry operations on the Aricha-Kazirhat and Paturia-Daulatdia river routes resumed on Saturday morning after being suspended for several hours due to dense fog, officials said.
According to Nasir Chowdhury, Deputy General Manager of the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC), ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route were halted around 12 AM, while those on the Aricha-Kazirhat route stopped at 1:30 AM due to poor visibility.
The suspension stranded 12 ferries mid-river and caused severe disruptions, leaving over 500 vehicles, including 400 goods-laden trucks, stuck on both sides of the river.
Ferry services resumed around 9 AM as the fog cleared, allowing stranded passengers and vehicles to continue their journeys.
