Delhi, Feb 01 (V7N) —India has expressed its hope that all mutually agreed MoUs and agreements between Bangladesh and India will be honoured as the border forces of the two neighbouring countries are set to hold DG-level talks later this month in New Delhi.

"So, our point is, we will be having talks between the BSF (Border Security Force) and BGB (Border Guard Bangladesh) in February, and we expect all mutually agreed MoUs and agreements to be honoured," said official spokesperson at the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, Randhir Jaiswal.

The director general level talks between the BGB and BSF are scheduled to take place in New Delhi on 17 to 20 February .
Jaiswal said all border-related issues are proposed to be discussed during the upcoming meeting.

"We expect all mutually agreed MOUs and agreements, agreements I would say, to be honoured. These form the basis for structural engagements between India and Bangladesh, in fact, between the border guarding forces of the two countries," he said, adding that these facilitate creation of mutually beneficial security and trade infrastructure along the border.

Bangladesh and India witnessed tensions over border-related issues recently and Dhaka called upon the government of India to advise all the authorities concerned in India to refrain from "any provocative actions" that could escalate tensions along the shared border.

The Indian side expressed the hope that the understandings that the two border forces have will be implemented in a cooperative approach in combating the crimes along the border.
