Dhaka, Feb 10 (V7N) – Professor Asif Nazrul, Legal Advisor to the interim government, shared a controversial post on Facebook by Zulkarnain Sayer on Monday, drawing attention to India's contradictory stance on Bangladesh's internal affairs.
In the post, Sayer highlighted that in January last year, Indian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal had stated firmly that Bangladesh's elections were an internal matter. He pointed out that despite the controversial elections of 2014 and 2018, widely criticized as one-sided and rigged, India recognized those elections and refrained from criticism, treating them as internal issues of Bangladesh.
Sayer questioned why, in contrast, India found it necessary to condemn the recent demolition of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's historic residence at Dhanmondi-32. He argued that, like the elections, the Dhanmondi-32 incident should also be treated as Bangladesh's internal matter.
The post further stated, "Dhanmondi-32 is located in Dhaka, not Delhi. Just like the elections, this issue is also internal to Bangladesh. Through this, the Indian government has once again established that the rights of the people of Bangladesh, not the Awami cult, are important to them."
Professor Nazrul's sharing of the post has sparked widespread discussion on social media, with many users debating India's involvement and influence in Bangladesh’s political landscape.
