Dhaka, Feb 13 (V7N) – The interim government has officially established a National Consensus Commission under the leadership of Chief Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, according to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division on Thursday (February 13).

The commission will begin its activities on February 15 and will operate for a six-month term.

Vice-Chairman: Professor Ali Riaz, Head of the Constitutional Reform Commission

Members:

  • Abdul Muyid Chowdhury, Head of the Public Administration Reform Commission
  • Safar Raj Hossain, Head of the Police Reform Commission
  • Dr. Badiul Alam Majumder, Head of the Electoral Reform Commission
  • Justice Emdadul Haque, Member of the Judicial Reform Commission
  • Dr. Iftekharuzzaman, Head of the Anti-Corruption Reform Commission

The National Consensus Commission has been tasked with engaging political parties and stakeholders to build a broad national agreement on key reforms, particularly in the areas of:

  •  Electoral System
  •  Police Reforms
  •  Judiciary
  •  Public Administration
  •  Constitutional Amendments
  •  Anti-Corruption Measures

The commission will review and incorporate recommendations from the various reform commissions and propose actionable steps ahead of the next elections.

This move is seen as a significant step toward ensuring institutional reforms and fostering political stability in Bangladesh.
